Acupuncture and Dry Needling (IMS)

Acupuncture:

Acupuncture is used to alleviate pain or to help treat various musculoskeletal health conditions. Acupuncture is done by inserting very thin needles at various depths into a patient’s skin at specific points on the body.

Dry Needling:

Also known as Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS), dry needling is a total system for the diagnosis and treatment of myofascial pain syndromes. The treatment utilizes acupuncture needles and specifically targets injured muscles that have contracted and become shortened from distress. IMS differs from acupuncture in many ways including the insertion of the needles based on physical signs rather than predefined locations. There is often immediate improvement in symptoms and mobility.
